An absolute highlight of our trip to Madeira! We visited Taberna Madeira and were blown away by the outstanding service from start to finish. Every member of staff was welcoming, smiling, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their knowledge of the menu and recommendations made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A very special shoutout to Haroldo, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail honestly made our whole holiday that little bit more special. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was truly five-star. If you’re visiting Funchal, this is a place you simply cannot miss. We would HIGHLY recommend it and will definitely be returning on our next visit! ~ Cloe D

Malgré des prix un peu plus élevés que les restaurants voisins, nous n'avons pas regretté notre choix, les plats sont bien présentés et délicieux (sabre et encornés grillés). La purée de patates douces était réussie. Un bon resto avec parfois une voiture d'un local qui vient faire partager sa musique, ce qui amuse tout le monde et mets une bonne ambiance. Wspaniałe jedzenie, może knajpka nie zachęca, ale jak chcecie spróbować prawdziwej kuchni maderskiej to jest to miejsce!!!! Mili kelnerzy , czas oczekiwania w normie. Kuchnia ze specjalalmi kuchni maderskiej i nie tylko. Czas oczekiwania rozsądny, ceny niezbyt wygórowane , za obiad dla dwóch osób zapłaciliśmy niecałe 50 Euro co uważam za bardzo dobra cenę :) ~ Jacek K

During our short stay in Funchal, we were twice in Taberna Ruel. I would like to write that both time times we had a great time there, but not really. First of all food - both times it was really deliciouse - we had spada fish with the passion fruit souce and chicken with mashroom souce. Service was totally different both times. During our first visit, in the evening service was really nice and rather fast. Second time we were during lunch time and even thoug restaurant was almost empty, we had to wait for ages to get our food, and than even longer to get a check. Besides the time, service was ok - staff was friendly and polite and we got what we ordered Reasonably priced, comaparble to other restaurant on the same street. Food - 5*; Service - 4* ~ Olga

Bardzo dobrze przyrządzona Espada z bananem i Marakują. Porcję z pewnością syte. Dużym plusem była polska karta dań (co prawda z literówkami, jednak doceniani chęci :D) miły Pan kelner nas o niej poinformował. Okolica bardzo przyjemna, jedna uliczka z wieloma restauracjami, warto przystanąć na chwilę obejrzeć pomalowane drzwi. ~ Przemysław J

Непогане місце на обід чи вечерю. Хороший і привітний персонал. Ціни є нормальними, як для ресторану. Порції не є великими і стандарти їжі трішки відрізняються від континентальної Португалії. Ми пробували популярні на Мадейрі молюски на грилі - lapas grelhadas і нам не сильно сподобалося. Також страва катаплана сильно відрізнялася від такої ж страви на континентальній Португалії. ~ Iryna G

Top Restaurant !! Ich hatte Rip Eye Steak mit Pommes und gemischten Salat und meine Frau hatte Hendlfilet in Knoblauch Buttersaft . Alle von uns getesteten Speisen in TOP Qualität und Ausführung ! Personal und Chef sehr zuvorkommend ! Bin schon das zweite mal hier, und es war alles wie vor beschrieben ! Einfach ein Top Restaurant ! Komme sicher wieder . Beste Grüße aus Wien ~ Alfred R

Ce restaurant est super. La nourriture est très bonne et les serveurs très gentils. Nous avons goûté des spécialités : bolo de caco, sabre noir a la banane ou au fruit de la passion. Très bon ! Pour 2, nous en avons eu pour 94€ (4 boissons et une bouteille d’eau, 2 entrées, 2 plats et un dessert) ce qui est tout à fait raisonnable pour la qualité ! Merci pour ce bon repas 🥰 ~ Anais A

Sehr gutes Fischrestaurant in der Altstadt von Funchal. Wir waren bereits zweimal in unserem Urlaub hier und werden definitiv noch einmal wiederkommen. Auf jeden Fall bis zur Fischempfehlung des Kellers warten (der Fisch wird einem direkt am Platz präsentiert). Diese ist sehr fundiert. Boas lulas grelhadas, podiam aumentar um pouco mais a dose mas estava muito bom.... Já tínhamos provado o bife de atum e agora provamos o polvo. Situato nella zona vecchia e caratteristica di Funchal il ristorante è una vera piacevole sorpresa .Pietanze principalmente a base di pesce fresco ,gusti e sapori ben dosati ottimo (anche per la carne).Personale attento e gentile molto professionale, che ti fa sentire come a casa.Ottimi i vini e gli antipasti ,i dolci ,conto nella media .Grazie a tutti ~ Gina G

Une excellente adresse. Une très bonne équipe qui sait garder le sourire. La cuisine comme le service sont exemplaires, les produits sont de bonne qualité. Une bonne cuisine se mérite, il faut savoir patienter un peu. Un très bon rapport qualité-prix. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés. Nous y sommes allés plusieurs fois, la qualité est constante. ~ Stephane G

Sehr guter Service, sehr gute Stimmung. Das essen,wir hatten knoblibrot als appetizer und pulpo als Vorspeise, dazu eine Fischempfehlung die uns vorher präsentiert worden ist. Besser kann es nicht sein, der Fisch war sehr fein, die Beilagen dazu genug für 6 pax die sich den Fisch geteilt hatten. Vielen Dank wir kommen gerne wieder! ~ Joeanna K

Nous sommes passés dans cette rue et un beau serveur irlandais nous a tout de suis mis à l'aise ! L'accueil est génial, le standing est parfait, le dressage des plats irréprochable et le goût est incroyable ! Le chef nous a même fait des plats végétariens n'étant pas à la carte ! My wife and I were craving some good seafood that we knew Madeira is known for. We also wanted a cosy, authentic Madeiran seafood restaurant off the main commercial areas. Taberna Ruel ticked both these boxes. We ordered a seafood platter which comprised of the catches of the day, complemented with a bottle of excellent Madeiran wine recommended by their sommelier. The fish and shellfish were all extremely fresh and the wine recommendation was excellent (and also affordable). The staff were very helpful and accommodated our desire to have more shellfish over fish and allowed us to take away our dessert and wine when it proved that we were too full by the end of our meal. If you're after great seafood, I'd definitely recommend this place. ~ Victor C

Petite terrasse dans une ruelle passante très agréable. Nous sommes accueillis avec le sourire. Le service est impeccable et les serveurs parlent de nombreuses langues. Nous avons pris un verre de blanc avec des bolo do caco puis une brochette de bœuf et des gambas. La brochette était à tomber par terre à ce ce goût de fumée et cette tendresse du bœuf. Este restaurante é de uma qualidade impressionante. Somos bem recepcionados, camareiros com simpatia e profissionalismo, sem contar nos sabores de cada prato! Fantástico, venham experimentar! Comi em muitos lugares mas nenhum com a qualidade deste lugar! Fiquei fã e vou indicar para todos os amigos! Sucesso vocês são ótimos no que fazem. ~ Sr M

Atención maravillosa y patio agradable. La comida muy rica y tuvieron el detalle de emplatar dos platos cuando les pedimos para compartir. Pedimos pez espada con salsa de maracuyá y la espatada de carne. Muy atentos también para servir vino. Sitio más que recomendable! Único punto de mejora por poner algo: el calorazo que hacía al lado del horno. ~ Itziar G

Restaurante muito bom, dos melhores que comi aqui na Madeira. A espetada regional é bastante boa, veio no ponto (mal passada no meu caso) e tanto as lapas quanto o bolo do caco estavam ambos bastante bons também. O atendimento foi excelente, sendo os empregados atenciosos e simpáticos O ambiente é bom também, recomendo vivamente este restaurante! ~ João M

Ein wirklich empfehlenswertes Lokal in der Santa Maria Straße. Das Essen war hervorragend, die Meeresfrüchte schmeckten sehr frisch und der Sangria war auch köstlich. Die Bedienung war zuvorkommend und haben auch mit Humor überzeugt. Die Auswahl an Restaurants is sehr groß in dieser Straße, die Taberna Ruel sticht jedoch eindeutig hervor. Komme gerne mal wieder vorbei! ~ Florian T

Locale nella via più affollata è pieno di ristoranti a Funchal. Si distingue perché meno turistico degli altri. Interno accogliente e pulito. Personale cortese e disponibile e soprattutto, menù in italiano ed un cameriere parlante italiano. Cataplana di pesce, ovvero una sorta di zuppa, molto buona con pesce freschissimo. Menzione particolare per il caffè, forse il più buono dell'isola! ~ ELISA M

Najlepsza restauracja w Funchal ❤️ wybraliśmy Maderę na naszą podróż poślubną i od pierwszego dnia zaglądamy do tej restauracji w porze kolacji - nie zawiedliśmy się ani razu! Chcielibyśmy zabrać kawałek Taberna Ruel ze sobą do kraju… Wspaniałe jedzenie i cudowna obsługa ❤️ Jeśli wrócimy do Funchal to naszą ponowną tradycjà będą odwiedziny w tym miejscu 🥹 ~ Alicja P

Unfassbar tolles Restauranterlebnis. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen war so gut, dass wir in unserem Urlaub erneut dort gegessen haben. Wir haben länger in der kleinen Passage gesessen und je eine Vorspeise Hauptgang und Nachspeise gehabt. Das Steak war auf den Punk so gegart wie bestellt. Das Alkoholfreie Bier (dunkel und hell) schmeckte zudem sehr gut! Absolut zu empfehlen! ~ Ally

He venido aquí muchas veces. Cada vez que por trabajo estoy en Funchal. Y seguiré viniendo. A pesar de estar en una zona turística y ser un sitio bastante turístico, está lejos de ser la típica trampa para turistas. La calidad de los ingredientes es altísima. La cocina exquisita. Y el servicio impecable. No es un sitio barato, pero considero que la relación calidad-precio es aceptable. Hasta la próxima visita. ~ Christian M
